Start Is Back++, the widely used & most popular, not to forger THE FIRST start menu replacement for Windows 10 ( & Windows 8) has been updated from version 2.5.0 to version 2.5.1, & with it come a welcome addition & a crucial one at that, the ability to skin the Windows 10 taskbar jumplists. For those of you who are not familiar with these terminology, it is basically the menu that pops up when you right-click the pinned taskbar icons or even the running programs icons.
Now this, this is gooood!!! This is a huge step forward when it comes to having a properly themed OS, this being one of the problem parts of theming windows 10. Till now, there were no means to achieve this. No matter what, Windows would generate its' own Jumplist & maybe show a frame for the top & sides but not the bottom!!! Talk about hardcoded GENERIC!!
I mean how Microshit!! How'd you manage to bring out these ideas to screw over your pc customer base!! If we do personalize our OS, what harm does that do you??? For God's sake, it IS called a PC for a freaking reason!!
Anyway, coming back to he topic, it has been achieved. You can now have themed jumplists!! Mind you though, there are still a few issues to iron out like, the frames of the jumplists take after the taskband's extended ui frames rather than the dwm windows frames like it should. Yeeeaaah!! Now that was a mouthful, wasn't it? Okay, here's the easy explanation:
[if gte mso 9]><xml> <w:WordDocument> <w:View>Normal</w:View> <w:Zoom>0</w:Zoom> <w:TrackMoves></w:TrackMoves> <w:TrackFormatting></w:TrackFormatting> <w:PunctuationKerning></w:PunctuationKerning> <w:ValidateAgainstSchemas></w:ValidateAgainstSchemas> <w:SaveIfXMLInvalid>false</w:SaveIfXMLInvalid> <w:IgnoreMixedContent>false</w:IgnoreMixedContent> <w:AlwaysShowPlaceholderText>false</w:AlwaysShowPlaceholderText> <w:DoNotPromoteQF></w:DoNotPromoteQF> <w:LidThemeOther>EN-US</w:LidThemeOther> <w:LidThemeAsian>X-NONE</w:LidThemeAsian> <w:LidThemeComplexScript>X-NONE</w:LidThemeComplexScript> <w:Compatibility> <w:BreakWrappedTables></w:BreakWrappedTables> <w:SnapToGridInCell></w:SnapToGridInCell> <w:WrapTextWithPunct></w:WrapTextWithPunct> <w:UseAsianBreakRules></w:UseAsianBreakRules> <w:DontGrowAutofit></w:DontGrowAutofit> <w:SplitPgBreakAndParaMark></w:SplitPgBreakAndParaMark> <w:DontVertAlignCellWithSp></w:DontVertAlignCellWithSp> <w:DontBreakConstrainedForcedTables></w:DontBreakConstrainedForcedTables> <w:DontVertAlignInTxbx></w:DontVertAlignInTxbx> <w:Word11KerningPairs></w:Word11KerningPairs> <w:CachedColBalance></w:CachedColBalance> </w:Compatibility> <m:mathPr> <m:mathFont m:val="Cambria Math"></m:mathFont> <m:brkBin m:val="before"></m:brkBin> <m:brkBinSub m:val="--"></m:brkBinSub> <m:smallFrac m:val="off"></m:smallFrac> <m:dispDef></m:dispDef> <m:lMargin m:val="0"></m:lMargin> <m:rMargin m:val="0"></m:rMargin> <m:defJc m:val="centerGroup"></m:defJc> <m:wrapIndent m:val="1440"></m:wrapIndent> <m:intLim m:val="subSup"></m:intLim> <m:naryLim m:val="undOvr"></m:naryLim> </m:mathPr></w:WordDocument> </xml><![endif]
But, as I said, these are just minor issues & despite Microsoft in an attempt to make the pc a NOT-SO-PERSONAL thing for you or me, but rather their own play thing, breakthroughs have come at a slow yet steady interval & no doubt that in the future more things will sway in the users favor than MASTERSOFT..(excuse the pun).
